Jenny…? HOW ARE YOU NOT DEAD.Dad? Wait… no, you’re not. Who are you?Well, that’s the first time anyone’s guessed that automatically, but that’s not the point. Answer the question, Jenny.
I can tell. I just woke up on Messaline after Cobb shot me.
Now answer my question.
So you just ‘slept off’ a bullet wound? Right…
And I’m like you, just closer to the original print, that’s all. That answer your question?
Well enough.
And yes.
You do realize saying, “Yes, I did get shot by a madman, but I took a bit of a nap and now I’m all better!” sounds like the most insane excuse in the history of the universe, right? *eyes widen* Unless… Do you still have a scar from it?
No.
Well, that’s a fucking surprise. Actually, no. It’s not.*hesitates* But does the Doctor know you’re alive?
I’ve seen him.

Jenny…? HOW ARE YOU NOT DEAD.
Dad? Wait… no, you’re not. Who are you?
Jenny sat down in one of the chairs. looking up at the stars, trying to find the particular ones she had seen up close. She wasn’t sure what hot chocolate was, but she nodded anyway.
Donna busied herself with Wilfred’s outdoor cooking materials. She watched as Jenny eyed the sky with curiosity. “I’m sorry, I don’t know if I can name all the constellations for you. Gramps would ramble on about them like they were royalty, but it mostly went right over my head,” she called from inside Wilfred’s tent. “Do you want marshmallows?”
“Okay.” She pointed to a small speck off in the distant sky. “I think that one’s Messaline.”
Donna hands Jenny a mug of hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. She looked to where Jenny was pointing. “Is it? How on earth can you tell something like that? They all look exactly the same!” She adjusted the telescope a bit more. “I know that bright one up there is Jupiter. I wonder if the Doctor has ever been on that moon, Europa or something like that.”
She shrugged. “I just do.” She sipped the hot chocolate and promptly burned her tongue. “Aaaah!!”
Jenny followed Donna, smiling.
Donna took Jenny to the hill that her grandfather always used to watch the stars. Wilfred wasn’t currently there, but Donna knew he was watching the stars somewhere. She offered Jenny a seat on one of the old lawnchairs Wilfred always left out, assuming correctly that nobody would care enough to steal them.
Donna readied the telescope. “Would you like anything? I know you’re not exactly a little girl, but I can make you some hot cocoa?”

child-of-the-machine replied to your post: Donna, can we go stargazing now?
That’d be great!Donna smiles and gestures for Jenny to follow her. Thankfully, the sky was clear of clouds and a good amount of stars were out. “Gramps bought a new telescope to celebrate my memories coming back.” Donna laughed to herself. “I think he’ll be happy to see it go to good use.”
